We have committed to the development of a standards roadmap, designed to support anyone with an interest in care record and interoperability standards in England.
This standards roadmap will:
- provide access to a system-wide overview of standards that are proposed, in development and changes to existing standards, including and estimated timescales
- support collaboration and provide opportunity to engage with the standards developer to identify any synergies to reduce duplication and burden
- inform prioritisation of commitments and delivery
- enable the health and adult social care organisations and suppliers to plan the implementation of standards.
The standards roadmap can be seen as the entry point into the overall end to end development and approval process. The Data Alliance Partnership Board (DAPB) has authority for the approval of standards and collection for use in the health and care system. Items will progress from the standards roadmap once they enter the DAPB process, and will be published once approved.
The standards roadmap is being implemented in a phased and iterative approach, and will develop over time, based on the feedback we receive. The initial release contains a defined subset of items where details are relatively mature, and we invite stakeholder feedback to help inform its development.
Over the next few months, the roadmap will start to capture proposed standards and standards in development across the health and care system, and data collections (including extractions). Eventually it will provide a holistic view across all proposed standards and standards under active development.
|Name of Proposed Standard||Description of the standard||Est Publication Date|
|NHS Booking & Referrals Standard||
The standard supports the requirement to direct patients (refer) to the appropriate clinical care setting to best meet their clinical needs
|Digital Social Care Records||
A core set of information relevant for people using adult social care services about the direct care they receive (across various settings).
A data collection focused on helping to provide a picture of the quality and safety of care provided to people using services and collected by regulated adult social care services in England. Minimum DataSet specified information is recorded in a standardised way that can also be shared interoperably with other health and social care services, commissioners, regulators, and local and central government, subject to meeting information governance standards.
|Nursing Documentation Standard||
Interoperable Nursing Standard - clinical headings standard being developed by PRSB (funded through the programme).
Focus is on the core functional need assessment of a patient's/citizen at the initial assessment. It is intended to support transfer of care between Secondary/Community/Care Homes - in both directions. It is expected that messaging will be included in this work at a later stage.
